Valentine's Day @ All The Way Inn! ( OTA )

WHO: Rosie & you!
WHAT: Valentine's Day fun!
WHERE: All The Way Inn!
WHEN: February 14th/15th
WARNINGS: If your characters are gonna' get nasty, just make sure to cw for anything nsfw but otherwise go nuts and have fun.

SUMMARY: In the spirit of the season, Rosie is hosting a bit of Valentine's Day fun at her tavern and inn. There's some prompts for people who want some guidance, but otherwise feel free to come up with or do anything you want!

ALL THE WAY INN

A dated vine-covered wood and stone two-story building. Lodging is situated on the second floor while the ground floor is primarily for the restaurant and tavern portion of the business. It has tables out front that are decorated with various plants and ale pitchers. The windows of the establishment are opened to show the floral, decorated inside as well.

No matter the season, everything seems to be consistently thriving... which can be attributed to the gifts over nature that Demora has lent the owner now that their bond is stronger. It definitely stands out amongst the more mundane buildings but not obnoxiously so.

It is primarily used by traveling merchants from neighboring city-states, but more and more people have begun adding Town to their route for this locale. It promises seasonally-themed delights, live entertainment, and the owner is mentioned to be extremely hospitable and friendly.

Rosie does have her hand in almost every aspect of the business but is always open to taking on more help.

(VALENTINE'S SPECIALS)

Strawberry Goat Cheese Bruschetta
A mix of tangy cheese and sweet berries with balsamic glaze. The strawberries are cut to look like they have little dragon wings extending out of them.

Marry Me Salmon (or Chicken)
A dish so good it will make you say “Marry Me” to whoever orders it for you! The filets are spiced and seared to perfection and paired with a creamy garlic lemon and herb sauce. Can be served with your choice of rice or bread.

Raspberry Trifle
Raspberries layered with pound cake, sweetened, and whipped cream that is then dusted with cocoa and chilled before serving.

Drunk In Love
A vibrant, pink Valentine’s-themed drink often characterized by its use of strawberries, vodka, and a touch of sparkling champagne. Comes with complementary mini-bottle of champagne for couples to share.

ROMANTIC HAPPENINGS

On top of a special menu, Rosie has a few activities for people to participate in to encourage a romantic, but fun atmosphere!

Question Jar
Each table has a small mason jar with slips of paper that have deep, open-ended questions to discuss over dinner or dessert. This can be a fun time for first dates or those in established relationships. Learn more about who you're with!

Love Sucks
A large table has two plates one end with a straw assigned to each. On the other side of the table is a large bowl of heart-shaped marshmallows. To play this game, have one player stand at each plate and take a straw. When the game starts, players have to race to the marshmallows on the opposite side of the table and use the straw to suck it up and bring it back to their plate.

The timer is set for one minute and whoever gets the most marshmallows wins. The prize is a complimentary drink or appetizer on the menu.

You're A Match
This simple game is to get people mingling if they don't have anyone to spend the evening with. Pick a candy heart from a bowl and find the person who has the matching one - both in color and word - to yours.

Based on what single word the candy heart says (ex. color, time, place), talk about something relating to that to get a conversation going.

Despite being the lover of love who put all this on together, Rosie is a bit too busy to really participate in much of it herself. Since she's owner, entertainer, server, and bartender- She's a little busy!

Town's population might not be bustling, but there is enough traffic between both locals and people passing through to keep her consistently occupied. Frazzling as it is, she at least looks cute today with a pink, flowing dress and some of her dragon features on display. Glittering green scales along her arms, horns standing tall, and tail swaying behind her.

"Be with you in a minute," she says, to anyone trying to grab her attention. "I just need to make sure that table's taken care of, figure when to squeeze in my next set, and then-" She prattles on a seemingly endless list of tasks to complete.

Really, what she probably needs - and maybe why you stopped her in the first place - is a break.

When she does manage to (or is forced to) take a (very teensy tiny) break, she finds a table and fishes out a slip of paper from one of those mason jars. "Hm," she hums, opening it up and reading what's on the paper. While she'd written most of them off the top of her head, she didn't actually remember a lot of them.

"What's your favorite season and why...?" she asks quietly, to herself, since she is sitting alone. The blond casts her gaze to the world outside and sun dipping low on the horizon line as she considers.

Kabru comes in before the dinner rush, so it's slightly less busy when he goes up to the bar to order his usual drink he'll spend the next hour and change nursing. Enough that he can steal a little conversation from the lovely hostess.

"I didn't realize there'd be a special event today. Did I miss something, or are you just in a romantic mood?"

Reaching out a hand to set on the frazzled woman's forearm to get her attention, Elidibus just gives her a warm smile. What she is doing is an admirable thing, yes, but even those who play host need to take care of themselves.

"-Or," he interrupts, politely, "you take a moment to rest, as you clearly are in need of such a thing."

He holds out his batch of caramels and gives them an inviting little shake. "If you require further tempting, perhaps some homemade salted caramels? To, ah, 'sweeten the deal' I suppose."

"Absolutely not," Emet-Selch cuts in. He's calm but unapologetically blunt, and if his sharp gaze doesn't pin Rosie in place, perhaps his words will at least serve to slow her down for a moment.

"What you need is a larger staff. Or better organizational flow. And while I hardly require you to babysit my table every ten minutes, your next set - and those who would listen - deserve better from you than being 'squeezed in' somewhere. How are you supposed to get into the proper romantic headspace otherwise?"

He crosses his arms. And to his credit, he'll allow Rosie the full sixty seconds she requested to get back to him with her answer. After all, there are other patrons to serve first.

arrival

Kabru is unaware of Valentine's Day-- he just came to the inn for a drink, conversation and people-watching like usual, and then the place was clearly decked out for a romantic event. Slightly bemused and feeling like he'd missed the memo on some kind of special occasion, he nonetheless greets the lovely hostess, gets himself a drink, and lets his gaze wander around the room for a moment, assessing the crowd. By now, he's gotten used to maneuvering with the large, silver feathered wings attached to his back, and the far too long tail that trails behind him, though he remains far too aware of them at all times. Those familiar with the entire process might guess that he only has a few weeks until he's fully integrated with his dragon soul.

Obviously he's not on the payroll, but he finds a few travelers passing through to have a friendly chat with like he is being paid for it nearly every night, and tonight is no exception. None of the ones that are very obviously on a date, though, of course. Once he's left a suitable number happier with their visit than when they came in, he finds a table with a good view of the room to settle at.

The jar of questions at each table is a cute idea, and Kabru plucks some of the little slips of paper out to peek at them even though he's sitting alone. The sound of footsteps draw his gaze back up and he smiles at whoever is there, holding one of the slips between two fingers. "Want to give these a try with me? Let's make a game of it."

"I would be happy to do so."

Elidibus has a grin on his face as he slides into the seat across from Kabru's. The game would provide an easy opportunity to learn more about the reticent man, and he means to utilize it - not in any sort of malicious manner, of course. Kabru is similar to him, however, in that he has a curiosity with people and a desire to know combined with the skills to gather said information.

Besides, he likes Kabru.

"Seeing as you hold the paper, would you like to begin?"

Kabru's smile brightens when Elidibus agrees; he's wanted to know more about him as well. "I thought we could take turns pulling out two questions... you pick one to ask the other person, and one to answer yourself." It's not a game you can really "win", but it's a little more than just asking questions back and forth.

He grabs a second paper from the jar and opens both slips, considering them for a moment. "Okay. The question I'll answer is, 'When you were a kid, what seemed like the best thing about being a grown up?'. For me, it was the freedom. As a child, you are beholden to your caretaker-- the choices you're able to make for yourself are limited by what they will allow. While my adoptive mother cares for me a great deal and taught me nearly anything I wished to know, she's also very protective of her charges." To put it mildly. And his child self was right; that is the best thing about being an adult. He takes a sip of his drink, then taps the other paper slip.

"My question for you is, what would you like to know more about, but haven’t had the time to look into?"

Confused, But Has the Spirit:

While not entirely a stranger to the holiday of Valentine's Day, it still remains relatively new to Elidibus. The concept makes perfect sense to him, of course, and he would take any opportunity to shower his friends and loved ones with gifts and affection no matter the day. But therein lay the very source of his confusion. Generally, in his experience, holidays tend to fall around times that coincide with either a seasonal significance or that of an important date within the calendar year.

But he cannot find anything remotely significant about the fourteenth day of the second month. As far as he is aware, it is merely another day, and none have been able to explain exactly why this date was chosen. That unknown sticks in his brain and refuses to leave, no matter how he spends the day.

Even with this background of confusion, he is involving himself with as much enthusiasm as he does everything else. Having noticed that sweets tended to be the theme, he has taken it upon himself to make several batches of salted caramels, both to share with those he is close with as well as give away freely. At several points in the day he can be found in or around the Inn with a batch held in his hands and a bright smile on his face.

Catching his eye will have him pause and hold out one of the caramels.

"These were made this morning by my own hand, would you like to taste?"

Snacking With Love:

Considering how busy the Inn is during this event, it is difficult to find somewhere with any manner of peace. Elidibus seems to have managed, however, tucked away in a far corner with one of the menu specials on his plate. The bruschetta was too tempting with its mix of tangy and sweet - a balance he could not resist. Any who approach him will catch him mid-bite with a look of culinary satisfaction on his face. He will acknowledge with a nod, but his mouth is too full to make a polite greeting just yet.

Forgive him if these little icebreaker games aren't exactly to his tastes.

Nevertheless, Emet-Selch seems content to make a date of his strawberry drink and while away a few hours people-watching and absorbing the lovey-dovey ambience practically wafting off some of the patrons. They need not worry - their goings-on here will not be used as inspiration for any more romance novels. Indeed, that chapter has come to a rather satisfactory end, or so he chooses to believe.

As for Valentione's Day... yes, he's familiar enough with the concept. Ardor, affection, sweet confections, couples getting all snuggly with one another or engaging in a complex dance of lingering touches and gazes that burn with fervent meaning... He can't help but wonder if the end of winter was chosen to give the people something a little more toasty to think on after months spent in the cold.

At last Emet-Selch glances up to find he has company. He shrugs and gestures to the opposing seat, but not without setting a few ground rules first:

"If you're here for the champagne, you'll have to order your own."

All too easily does Elidibus slide into the seat when it is so generously offered. He sets down a covered plate on the table in front of him before sliding it over to where Emet-Selch may easily reach it.

"Do not worry, your champagne is safe from my questing fingers. Rather than seek to share what you have, I instead come offering gifts."

He gestures around at the various decorations. "As one is apparently meant to do during this holiday."
