He knows he can dualcast if pressed, from the brain creatures that winter, but... look, it's difficult! And it's much harder when you're casting two different spells!
A volley of Boom explosions blast the living water apart, and his fire specialty makes quick work of the shreds before they can reform. It's no air slash, but sometimes hitting everything in the area is a fine substitute for precision! Do they even have cores? Well, whatever they have, they certainly do not have any anatomy at all now!

It takes less time and power than he was expecting to crush it - he might not even have fallen out of the air if he'd stayed up, but he sure does feel a little wobbly now that the heat of battle has worn off. This is a voluntary flop into the sand, unlike Avan's.
