SOLDIER was always built in mind that a single individual would be capable could take down a whole fortress on his own if aimed in the proper way. And this isn't entirely untrue. Even for their members who weren't the product of highly unethical child experimentation with alien space viruses, those who made First Class were capable of some truly unbelievable feats. Zack Fair is a good example of such a thing.
...At the same time, Angeal has always been of the opinion that things done as a team are, in many ways, a superior plan of action. Especially when not everyone is on the same level as SOLDIER, or if the situation happens to be one that is particularly difficult or strange.

Angeal doesn't even think twice about it. He reaches over as Vincent tries to take off, and just grabs his tail to pull him back down.
This place may have done some interesting things to his biology that means he's not quite the same as before... but it's still one hell of a biology even before taking the gold dragon changes into consideration. "Alright, so we're partners now, got it."
