Right- the younger version of Sephiroth, who disappeared. Not all of his past lined up perfectly with this Sephiroth's own...More proof of the divergent timelines that keep cropping up. That's enough to make Cloud's head hurt- and he sure as hell has enough of that going on as-is.
"Yeah. The kid vanished in the woods before we had much to talk about. Makes sense why he was the way he was, after seeing all that."
As for Glenn, well...Cloud hadn't even known Glenn was around. Sounds like whatever time spent was brief either way. All that he knows of Glenn now comes from the memories he just witnessed.
Still. There is at least one thing fully clear here, and it is that Sephiroth is hurting. The gentle country boy deep down in Cloud knows it. Yet he doesn't want to recoil, or doubt, or run away. Ironic, he thinks, that he is talking about being hounded by ghosts of the past with Cloud's own ghost himself.
"Guess you had things you wanted to say to him, huh. Like you probably did to me. To so many people."
Sephiroth speaks so much about burdens, yet all Cloud can think of is how Wedge always insists at those being things that ought to be shared where they can be. Cloud knows what it is like to want to shoulder the world alone even when surrounded by people who care. The wolf pendant hangs heavy around his neck with the thought.
