Yeah, he's going to need the mirror for this one. They do have a hand mirror in the house, which Popp uses to shave. Or uses to pretend that he needs to shave, anyway. Some mornings there is one (1) hair, it's justified. Mirror acquired, now he can get a better look at everything he's dabbing blood away from or ointment onto, and make sure he's not missing anything.

Oh, that was... close, huh.

"Good grief, a little closer and I'd be asking you to make me an eyepatch!"

Or a gravestone, that gouge out of his neck looks nasty. That's a little too much to be joking around about, though, he's not completely tasteless.
