Byleth's eyes widen, and he looks like he actually would be closer to crying than smiling. Though that is far from happening as well. Still, it's something, and it's quite clear that it does mean a great deal to Byleth.

There is one thing that betrays his emotions though. The damned tail. It starts with a slow sway back and fourth, gradually picking up speed until it's practically wagging. He either doesn't notice or chooses not to acknowledge it.
