EVENT #1: FAE FESTIVITIES
INTO THE WOODS

Click Clock Wood (Spring) by Grant Kirkhope
2:05 / 4:59
▶︎
Grant Kirkhope is a Scottish composer and voice actor for video games and film. Some of his notable works include GoldenEye 007, Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, and Perfect Dark, among many others.
After making your way through the tiny farming town of Ich and out towards the rim of a massive raised crater, you will find yourself being led through a narrow split in the canyon wall. Inside, glow worms cling to the ceiling and create the illusion of a thousand twinkling stars above the moistened rocks.
When you finally emerge, it is into an impossibly lush landscape of massive, redwood-sized tangling trees and a soft moss carpet. Life abounds here. It feels like an oasis of birdsong and animal activity.
A short walk leads you to the prepared party-grounds. A large clearing with quaint huts all around decorated with strange flowers for partygoers to rest or otherwise entertain themselves.
There appear to be several games and stalls set up, the sweet and savory scents of delicious food fills the air, and so do the patrons of the forest. Seemingly hundreds of Fae folk zip around and greet the newcomers excitedly by placing garlands of vines and crowns of flowers atop their heads.
Glowing flowers and toadstools light your way here. It also seems that even the animals get in on the festivities! Really, just about everything talks here. Almost everything, anyways! Talking to a tree stump might not yield many results but you're welcome to try.
Each entrant is also provided upon arrival a copy of The Rules. A rolled parchment that resists water or any other damage. It also prevents you from writing on it so you can't just do what you want.
The rules read as follows:

The rules read as follows:
- DO:
- ⁂ Accept gifts from the Fae.
⁂ Sample the food provided at the party ONLY.
⁂ Play games with the Fae.
⁂ Feel at ease to rest in the provided huts.
⁂ Keep tabs on your shadow lest it wander.
- ⁂ Make a TRADE with the Fae.
⁂ Provide any personal items as gifts or otherwise to the Fae.
⁂ Provide your true name to the Fae.
⁂ Wander away from the designated party area.
⁂ Ascend any staircases you find in the woods.
- ⁂ If you see an old woman hiking through the area, feel free to stop her and lie to her. The more brazen and obvious the lie the better. She appreciates this!
GAMES & ENTERTAINMENT

Amongst the games and attractions are a variety of fun possibilities!
GAMES
- ⁂ Battleship! (Fae Style!) A number of Fae will be hiding on a large grid of flowers. You guess the locations and if you are correct then you will win a small prize! It is a cup of nectar that refills endlessly, and numbs any pains you may have. This works even outside of the forest and can be taken home.
Every time you miss though, you receive a small 'curse.' Nothing harmful! Maybe you’re just rotating in place for the next hour, your ears become daisies, or you grow a tree out of your head? (Feel free to come up with your own silly ideas!) All of the curses will dissipate after a time or upon leaving the forest and none will do any harm or cause pain. The Fae are all about fun tricks, not hurting anyone!
⁂ Dress Up Darlings! You enter a booth and allow the Fae to decide your outfit! Upon the agreement that you'll wear it the rest of the party, of course, no matter how silly or ridiculous it is.
⁂ Bobbing For Onions! Yes, you read that right. Bobbing for onions. There are onions floating around... in water. You have to catch them with your teeth. The prize for success is a Bag of Onions. This bag never runs out of onions. They are always fresh and always onions. Not always the same kind of onion, but always onions nonetheless. This bag works outside of the forest and can be taken home.
⁂ What's In The Box? There is a box. There is something in it. Maybe it's frogs. Maybe it's slugs. Possibly bugs? Maybe apples. We don’t know. Stick your hand in the box and take a guess at what you’re touching! If you’re right, you win the contents of the box!
We'll let players decide via coin flip, rolls, or however they want if their guess is correct! Any items won though will be common, every day items like mentioned and nothing especially exciting. Unless you're really into frogs. Then it's your lucky day, apparently!
ENTERTAINMENT
- ⁂ Slayd & The Possums! Slayd is here and he’s throwing down the banjo tunes with his possum pals. Feel free to join him if you are musically inclined! The Fae will provide any instrument your heart desires! They can't grant you the ability to play it though if you don't know how.
⁂ The Crowning of the King of Misrule! Randomly chosen by the Fae, enter a lottery to be chosen as the King of Misrule for the evening. You will be dressed in a stupid outfit and granted Fae wings for the night! You also have the insatiable urge to play harmless pranks on people. The Fae will also give you a "Special Gift" at the end of the party...
FOR THE FOOLISH

Ahh, but there are rule breakers amongst us aren't there? If you choose to sneak away from the party, chances are nobody will stop you; however, you are now on your own in the Talahee Forest.
The first layer of the forest is very much similar to what you have already seen. Everything is coated in a thick mat of moss and trees wind away like a massive birds nest to form the canopy above. The faint sounds of animals can still be heard. Up here, you may encounter Fae who did not attend the party. They'll ask you your name and other personal details.
Best that you lie.
The further in that you head, the darker the forest gets. It seems you are following a downward slope. The trees get bigger here, as do the insects and toadstools. Bioluminescence rules down here it seems. You may encounter stranger creatures here. Ones that will try to make very tempting trades for your personal belongings. Things that will seem like an amazing deal to you. They offer magical items of great power, or even personal effects from home.
Don't be fooled though. These objects are cursed, and are not at all what they seem. You have the distinct feeling of being watched at all times here.
⁂ Possible Encounters: Owlbear, Displacer Beast, Giant Badger
Are you getting smaller or is everything else getting bigger? Were Slayd here, he would have told you about the concept of Deep Forest Gigantism. The deeper you go - just like the ocean - the larger that the flora and fauna get.
You are dwarfed by the mushrooms here in the pitch darkness and only guided by the latent glow of the creatures and fungi that dwell here. Bugs the size of house-cats skitter in your wake. Are you sure you want to be here? Should you encounter anything larger, you’d best stay silent. Or run!
⁂ Possible Encounters: Giant predatory Elk (RUN), Rodents of Unusual Size, Extra Large Bugs
The trees seem to clear out here as you reach the bottom of the forest. There is no light here so hope you brought a match. The landscape down here is a blanket of moss dotted with countless shallow pools. Looking into one of these pools, you will see your reflection... though it may look different in some way.
You will feel extremely compelled to reach down and touch the reflection in the water. Should you give in, you feel as though your world is turning upside down. You could receive memories not quite your own. Memories of a different version of you, even! (CRAU, Canon Update, or Canon AU!)
Yet, you will be experiencing them as your own. A long time could pass in your mind while only seconds have only elapsed in reality. Upon waking, you will find that you have been ejected from the party and the forest entirely. You find yourself at the entrance to the crater. Disoriented, and compelled not to re-enter, you have only yourself to blame as you must shamble your way home with this burdensome knowledge.

Poison Tree by Grouper

'Poison Tree' is a meditation on the complexities of anger and the internal conflict it causes. It draws inspiration from William Blake's poem of the same name.

Elidibus | Final Fantasy XIV | OTA Will Match Style
Bearing a shimmering flower crown of violet and blue that gently glows under the party lights, Elidibus can be found all over the party. He can be heard introducing himself to fae as being 'known as The Emissary.' It's clear he knows his way around conversations with them, seeing as he confidently speaks with many in attendance with nary a misstep to be found.
The food is as delicious as any party he's been to, and he feels an urging to sample as many varieties as he can. He can be found doing that, or perhaps observing the party from the sidelines.
It is a prime spot to people-watch, as it were.
Still, as much as he appears to be enjoying himself, he's clearly not dropped his guard entirely. His shadow is kept close by his side and he keeps a watchful eye on those he cares for. Should you need his expertise in some manner, he's clearly open to talking - he's spoken to many people, fae and not-fae alike. At present, however, he's watching.
If approached, he will raise a hand in greeting, "Are you enjoying the festivities?"
Games:
Elidibus has set himself up in front of the box game and is looking at it with a discerning eye. It's clear he's been at the games already, if the bag of onions and cup of nectar tucked in his arms is anything to go by. He can and will be convinced to bob for more onions, however, moisture or no. At the moment he does not appear to be cursed in any way, though whether that was due to luck or the curse not being a visible variety is unknown.
Though not unaware of being approached, he's giving too much thought to the prospect of the game in front of him to turn to greet the newcomer.
"I wonder..." he trails off, deliberating.
Entertainment:
The music. At some point while Slayd has started playing, Elidibus had made his way right up to where the band is playing and pulled an entire grand piano from his pocket - or from nowhere at all. It's a sleek mixed black-and-white design, bench and all, and he sits upon it and slots himself into the band with expert grace.
And oh, can he play. Elidibus puts his whole heart and soul into his playing, fingers dancing over the keys at a breakneck pace. A wide grin lights up his face and he's clearly enjoying himself during each set.
But like every musician, he will need breaks.
Putting the piano away temporarily - where it vanishes into nowhere exactly as before - he'll make his way to get himself a drink. Flexing his fingers to give them a nice stretch, he'll turn to whoever is nearby and excitedly start talking.
"Are you enjoying the music? Please, inform me should if you have any requests."
Wildcard:
((OOC: Plotting post is here! Hit me up if you'd like a closed thread or something else other than these prompts, I'm open to most anything.))
Wildcard- Re-uniting with a flame
The blond knows for a fact Elidibus is around somewhere in this world, given their hasty and excited reunion over the network, but with how absolutely crazy everything has been, he hasn't exactly had the chance to get to find and re-unite with him in person.
There was a lot they left hanging, back at the simulation. The pair had only just decided to go on a first date when everything in Prompto's own memories goes startlingly blank. Like there was a cutoff, or perhaps the simulation had a malfunction. Needless to say...There is a lot to catch up on here. As the piano comes into view, a wide, thrilled smile breaks across the boy's features. Yup, there he is.
"Eli!!!!" Prompto calls out, pumping his fist at the performance, "Yeah! Get em!"
Whenever he ceases playing and stands up, Prompto is there to land a flying tackle right into his arms, laughing delightedly.
no subject
He does get a break eventually.
When he does, he's only just managed to stow the piano back into wherever-it-comes-from when Prompto is upon him. He catches and spins the two of them around a few times before pulling him into a tight embrace. It had been some time. Far too abrupt was their parting, and he holds the other man all the more tightly because of it.
Delight is written over every line of the Emissary. "I do not have words for how good it is to see you once more, dearest Prompto," the words are slightly muffled by the way Elidibus speaks them into the blonde's hair. "I missed you. Terribly so."
no subject
Prompto's relief is palpable. It was one thing to see him on the network. Another entirely to be in his arms. There was so much they had left unsaid. Undone. Plans, that never came to fruition in the simulation. He can't help but laugh a little. "Really left you hangin' on that date, huh?"
no subject
And.
He supposes Prompto really did leave him hanging, through no fault of his own. "I suppose you must make it up to me, then," his words are soft, affectionate, achingly fond. But he will not wait a moment longer to do something he wished he'd had the chance to do. "But first, I will not wait a moment longer."
Elidibus pulls back just far enough to slip a hand up against Prompto's jaw and cheek, angling him up to face him. Then, his other hand slides up, up, to bury itself into blonde strands and to cradle the back of his head. Finally, he closes the distance, and presses their lips together.
Prompto tastes just as sweet as Elidibus knew he would.
Music Buddies
The Emissary playing at the piano had always been something of a treat even back in Amaurot, his bright, uplifting melodies winding their way through the Capitol's soaring halls. Much like the man who plays it now, the music seems more joyful, fuller, than it has in a very, very long time. Who wouldn't like it?
"I particularly liked the introduction," he offers mildly. Honestly, for all it's commonplace to them, there's something endlessly amusing about watching the reactions of the crowd as someone pulls an entire grand piano out of what - to them - appears to be nothing at all.
"Though if you were looking for some manner of critique, aside from our banjo-wielding friend up there, your string accompaniment is a bit lacking. Especially on those upper notes."
no subject
Oh, but do his ears deceive him? The critique is not leveled towards his own person, but towards one of the fae animals accompanying them. If Emet-Selch had truly wished to disparage the performance, he would have chosen a different tact.
This is a game. An offer.
Elidibus issues the challenge, "If they are so lacking, perhaps you would do well to show them precisely how the upper notes must be utilized?"
no subject
As for the challenge, well. Mayhap he'd appreciate an excuse to play. It's been quite a long time, and if it wasn't (exactly) his own idea, then no one can accuse him of showing off. Not that such is his aim. The joy is in the playing itself.
"Would I, though? You know I've no patience for such things." He certainly does have patience for it, if he deems it a worthy enough cause. This, too, is part of the game.
"But then it's only courteous to save our hosts from yet another musical misstep..." he trails off, as if he's considering it (when in reality they both know he's already made up his mind). What he says next may prove a little surprising, at least.
"You were bobbing for onions earlier, were you not? Have you any to spare? A single specimen will suffice."
no subject
"Will this suffice?" he says, handing it over. It's of a white variety, nicely sized with enough heft to do any dish it would have been used for proud. Elidibus, however, has a suspicion as to what Emet-Selch intends.
Rather than say anything he remains silent, indicating for his friend to continue.
no subject
"Yes, this one looks conveniently robust," he says at last. "Now then, did you wish to provide another melody for this purpose, or must I be left to demonstrate the proper method all by my lonesome?"
With a crisp snap of his fingers, Emet-Selch summons yet another onion from the depths of one of his pockets - this one an ordinary scallion with a long green stalk. Where might it have come from, you ask? Well, perhaps one of the other bags of onions that have been won this evening.
With a meaningful glance at his companion, Emet-Selch turns and makes his way towards the stage. Hopefully Slayd and his party won't mind if he borrows it for a few moments. Besides, if he's really going to do this, he's going to do it properly. And it simply won't have the same mystique when only he and Elidibus are privy to the first part of the act.

Game
Just maybe wonder if there will be prizes for anyone else with how Themis tends to get into things like these.
Angeal doesn't say anything immediately when he spots this particular boyfriend hard in thought at one of the other games. All he does is settle besides him for a minute, not dislodging his thought process with things like talking. It's only when Themis himself speaks that Angeal opts to give him something to speak to.
"What do you wander?" he asks casually, in no particular rush.
no subject
Rocking up onto his toes, Themis places a quick kiss of greeting on Angeal's cheek before gesturing towards the box games.
"I was wondering whether or not to partake in this particular game. It seems relatively harmless enough." For fae, that is.
no subject
"Oh, used to set up games like that during some holidays back in Banora," he comments mildly. "Real harmless sorta stuff. Really just meant to spook little kids. I imagine fae do things a lil' different... But Slayd did say there'd be no harm, so long as we followed the rules, so I'll have to trust him on that."
no subject
"What sort of treasures would you hide within your box games?" his voice is as amused as his eyes are. Shifting so that he can push up a sleeve on his robe and reach inside of one of the boxes, he pauses.
"Were they living creatures, like this toad?" pulling his hand back out reveals the toad. "I suppose we shall have to name him, since I have 'won' him. Or her. I have not learned how to sex amphibians."
no subject
"But it'd just be little things to trick people - like, telling other kids that they were touching eyeballs, but it was just wet grapes. Silly tricks like that, for little kids who didn't know better."
There's some noise of interest from the pixies. He has a feeling he's given some of them ideas.

Mingling
like recognizing like, he does have to admire that.By the time he circles around to where the other man has been enjoying his observations, Ignis has already done the most important thing of the night by his estimations. (So long as no one does anything stupid and leaves the party at least. You know, anyone he cares about.) That much is proven by the lovely cup that he carefully keeps inbetween scaled and claws hands - deep green, with the latter in particular seeming to shimmer strangely like gems or crystals.
Ignis has been doing his best to be very careful about them. He doesn't like the developments happening in his shoes, either, but that's more hidden just for now.
Not so hidden? All the pixies hanging off of him, chattering over his head and cross the gaps of his arms as he approaches Elidibus. Some of them even bother to glance over to the Emissary and wave. "Is this a friend of yours, you big jerk?" one of them says, but rather friendly despite the choice of words.
Ignis doesn't half mind it. "Just an acquaintenance," he says dismissively, before nodding to the other man. "It's all been pleasant enough, I suppose. A bit rowdy."
"What! Come on, you had fun at our game!"
"Because I won."
"Well," says that particular pixie. "Obviously that's when you have fun."
no subject
Bemused, he watches the exchange between the pixies and Ignis without interjecting. That wouldn't be polite, after all, and he knows the pixies may take offense.
He smiles after they finish, "I have grown to expect a certain level of noise when the fae are in high spirits, though this festival does appear to have them in rare form. It is rather heartwarming to see them enjoy themselves so."
no subject
Ignis raises an eyebrow at that, but none of it seems to be particularly serious. Through some way or another, it seems that they've all managed to find a balance of some sort. "So you are familiar with a culture such as this?" he inquires. "While I heard tales of them in storybooks, they never truly existed in my own world. It is interesting to be in a place where those stories are truth."
no subject
Fae truly did seem to be some of the most widespread of mythical beings. There were unicorns, winged horses, dragons, and the like, but the tales of the fae were so varied and wide - many to seem believable.
"Upon at least one of the reflections of my world, fae can be found in rather great numbers. The area they inhabit is their realm entirely, and they are as fun-loving there as they are here. One must be careful of what words one uses, lest they give theirs in a way they had not wished. While many are incredibly friendly, some varieties, however, are more likely than not to attempt to drown you. Their King is named Titania, and they preside over all of the others."
no subject
For the rest... A glance to his pixie companions, who just grin. "Maaaaaaaaaybe that's true," one of them sings. Well, of course they wouldn't want to make this easy on any of them.
Games, and all.
"I see," he responds for himself. "I had already been following some of that advice pre-emptively, but it is good to know the exact reasons. Was that a... 'reflection' which you visited often?"

Mingling
"I see the promise of fun and games lured you here." He greets with a slight smirk. "However, I would advise against participating in too many games with our overzealous hosts." Regis' attention shifts to the Fae scattered throughout the crowd, many of whom resemble various types of creatures and animals. However, he is keeping an eye out for any Fae with red hair. He does not want to run into the scoundrel who attempted to steal his cane before.
"I trust that all is well?"
no subject
He takes a moment to take in Regis, eyes sweeping up and down his form before he nods to himself and smiles. It appears that his work still held up for the other man. Good. Though he would have refreshed it in an instant if that was required.
"All is exceptional, in fact. I was able to be reunited with many whom I consider close, and it indeed has made the disorientation of a new world far more bearable. I can only hope you fare similarly - am I correct?"
no subject
Regis finds himself smiling while conversing with Themis. He is so glad to see him again. But, for the love of the Astrals, he recognizes that expression, Themis. You do not need to worry about him. Regis quickly dismisses the other's concerns in favor of conversation. He is perfectly fine. Regis could probably use some rest and a change from these ornate gray-black robes, but he is fine.
"You are extremely fortunate. I am glad you could connect with others here. I would hate for anyone to have to navigate this completely new world on their own." He responds with a slight smile.
"I have managed to catch up with my son and his companions recently, though I did come across a few others from similar worlds." His thoughts briefly return to the town hall meeting from a few weeks ago. He met many people who came from similar worlds to his own. However, they appear to be the only Eos representatives present. A disturbing truth that makes Regis ponder the fate of their star.
"I do not believe we had a chance to exchange many pleasantries." He says after some thought. "You are the Emissary, correct? But the emissary of what?“
no subject
Or perhaps fortunately?
Regardless, he beams brightly at the other's news. "It is good you were able to find some of your kin here. Like you, I can only wish that those of us brought to this place come alongside companions to combat that loneliness. I am glad you were able to find some of whom you care for."
Oh, but this is quite the different topic, and one he is absolutely willing to speak on. "For my people, Emissary is the title of the seat which I hold. The Convocation of Fourteen are elected officials all, chosen for specific traits required for our office. As Emissary, I was chosen for my impartial judgement and ability to place aside any personal bias - for us, Emissary is also the Adjudicator. When an accord cannot be found, I weigh in on these decisions and decide the best course of action. For the good of the Star, my people, and the Convocation all. Each is a complex position, but that is a general summary."
He huffs a laugh.
"It may be different to what you know an emissary to be. From my understanding, many know them as merely representatives - which I may also serve."
no subject
"An emissary for your people?" Regis can't help but appear perplexed at first, but his confusion gives way to understanding as he mulls over the Emissary's words. "I see," he says with a solemn nod. "You carry a heavy burden, much like myself. I've always thought the Crown would better serve its people if we thought of ourselves as representatives rather than royals." He sighed.
Despite his best efforts, Regis fell short as a sovereign. He was unable to protect his people during their time of need, and as a result, the kingdom of Lucis was destroyed. While Regis bears responsibility for his actions, the deities did not assist him. The Astrals betrayed Lucis during his time of need in order to fulfill the Prophecy. Regis finds it difficult to accept this heartbreaking reality.
"In my opinion, that was a wonderful summary." Regis smiles. "I assume that the Convocation of the Fourteen functions similarly to a senate, correct? If that's the case, I'm pretty familiar with it, at least in that context." However, the Senate of his world was more of a hindrance than a help. Their arrogance, combined with the accursed Prophecy, heralded the end of Lucis.
