Perhaps he's just too desensitized to his own lack of autonomy in the grand scheme of things that letting someone else hold the reins wouldn't even be all that shocking. Sometimes, he feels like a passenger in his own body due to The Scourge intervening. That's been mitigated though slightly by this dragon in his head and he's not sure how to feel about that yet entirely.
