It's also unfamiliar to Ardyn, honestly, at least when it came to people stuck in the same shitty situation as him in Niflheim. He'd discarded all of them eventually, but that's the thing: he believed he wouldn't regret doing what he had to, but here Ravus is giving him opportunities he never imagined possible and making him wonder. Had it been the best choice? At the time, he believed so. Now? It's harder to say.
