"Didn't need one in the first place," Cloud huffs. "Not planning to run off again. You'd probably just foll-"

Another round of cackling rings out.

Cloud goes rigid at the sound, glancing about more fully as he tries to figure out the exact direction it is coming from. Not so easy- it nearly seems to be coming from above, in front, and behind them at the same time. Definitely some manner of Fae nonsense. Which, he still doesn't fully believe in, mind. At least the arbitrary rules. They're written like a joke at the expense of those who don't know better.

The cackling, however, is very much real. As is the tall, spectral shadow that appears to flow through the trees ahead. She looks like a ghost, a gaunt woman fading into swirling fog and shadows, long hair suspended around her. The cackling starts to become something else- a soul-piercing wail. Cloud's hands fly up to his ears as he grits his teeth.
