Gaia would have probably sort of closed it out around there and politely said no and calmed down a bit. There's definitely a sense of mild guilt at having been so flippant with the question only to end up getting such an earnest and invested answer.
She's still not sure about the guy's motives but by that time she had at least ran into so many Ancients that it was at least becoming common place. And then soon after Obsidian would have put a stamp of approval on Elidibus during the Mint Candy efforts.
Gaia will later send him a few of her most successful effort which amount to semi-clear chunks (not uniform) bits of something that could be candy. It would still be mostly sugar with a hint of mint and probably better as a additive to a hot drink.
