He shows absolutely no appreciation for Sephiroth's timing, but he probably isn't going to try to poke him from now on - unless, of course, he forgets how fast he is or wants his attention.

He is mentioning department stores specifically because he thinks they are an impressive hallmark of civilization and implying that he is familiar with them gives his argument the weight of a cosmopolitan world traveler. For similar reasons in reverse, he is not mentioning that he thinks the fae are particularly magical because he was under the impression that they were fictional creatures.
