01. ) THORNY

//////////////////////////////// TOWN OUTSKIRTS ////

( If one has been paying attention while roaming the town, one might notice this young man lingering on some of the plantlife a little too deeply. Crouched at the edge of a path, looking nearly pristine in his crisp white clothes. A bit of an outlier.

He's picking through the plants intently, moving around a small area to check out what's around. His necrotic right hand holding a few flowers carefully, before he moves on to a shrub nearby.

... Is he ever going to move from this ... task? )

02. ) ENTHRALLED

Excuse me — don't move.

( Ko's hand comes out to stop someone from walking somewhere specific in his line of sight. His eyes aren't even trained on this person, looking fixed ahead at some point near the fountain at the center of town.

Until those heterochrome eyes do focus, and he looks to his left towards the person. )

Are you seeing that as well?

( He sounds pretty serious over something that may just be a fae hallucination ... )

[ Coming to this place hasn't settled comfortably on Atsuhide even a little bit. It's like his skin is too tight, itchy and hot. He's taken to walks, though there's not a lot in the way of solace.

He doesn't even have his motorcycle to take a relaxing ride.

Coming across Ko sweeping out a little cottage, though, makes everything feel alright again in one fell swoop. Like an intake of breath and the sight of his God has him where he should be, no matter what.

Atsuhide draws closer, watching him carefully. ]

Ko.

[ Then he smiles, softly, moving to touch at his face. ]

I thought I was all alone here.

( Ko feels Atsuhide approach and turns to face him in the same moment he speaks. Eyes widening, lips parting just for a moment. He drops the broom where he stands, coming closer to look up at him.

That hand at his cheek is warm and welcome. )

I did, too.

( He moves to pull Atsuhide into a hug. It's not something they do in public often at all, but he thinks this warrants it. Head at his broad chest, feeling that borrow heart thump against his ribcage.

He draws back. )

I didn't see you at Town hall ... a new arrival?

[ The hug isn't unexpected entirely, but in public its at least a little bit of a shock. He returns that hold, arms held fast around Ko's shoulders. When he pulls back, Atsuhide looks him over.

All seems well.

Or about as well as it could be with the two of them away from Fukuoka like this. ]

Yeah. Guess so. How long you been here?

[ Then he's looking to the cabin. ]

This your place? Or are you doing chores for cash?

( Ko's arms feel a little itchy and have since he's started sweeping the place out; maybe having a break with Atsuhide would be good. He's all soft smiles at him, making to head inside as he speaks: )

My place, I suppose ... It's a little bare, since I've not been here long. A little over a week.

( He breathes out. The place has a small table and chairs closer to the front; there's a few plants on the windowsills, leaves and stems and flowers fluttering lightly in the breeze that sweeps through the room.

He takes a seat at one of the chairs. )

I'm assuming you've come alone ... ? Have you run into any ... trouble?

[ Geth isn't usually one to follow people at close proximity, not without good reason. This is one occasion on which he feels justified, at least enough to approach this...Ko, wasn't it? ]

[ He had been hoping for a chance to speak already, though his initial plan hadn't been to go about it this way, inspecting each patch of plants in Ko's wake and tailing him through Town. He's not even sure what he's looking for, but between Gethen's well-learned apprehensions as a fledgling druid and the presence of those fae so close by, he's also willing to err on the side of caution to check on what the man is up to on this walk of his. ]

[ Ko himself isn't going unobserved, either, though Gethen isn't going to speak to him just yet. Curiosity, especially when backed by passing concern, can be quite the distraction. ]

( Ko seems far too absorbed in his task to really notice others around, other than noting the more obvious passersby as they go. Hyperfocus isn't foreign to Ko, but this subject and this depth is new to him.

His brain seems to thrum when he's looking over these plants, a distant and deep sort of interest and familiarity that he's attempting to puzzle out. The shrub he's looking through has small berries on it, a few of which he plucks from where they wait.

Then he's moving, though, stepping back and onto the road properly; there's still a bit of focus in his face, but it seems that focus has shifted from digging through the local plants.

Passing by Gethen, Ko's eyes alight on him for a moment, his quick pace slowing a little as he goes. He gives him a nod, though his brow furrows a little. )

[ Just that brief window of observation has already told him quite a bit, from the hesitancy in Ko's movements to his selection of souvenirs. It's not the touch of a complete amateur, but Gethen has an easy enough time deciding that he's indecisive somehow, without any specific goal in mind, at least where foraging is concerned. ]

[ That's less suspicious than it could have been. The ranger isn't yet familiar enough with this new world to be sure what exactly Ko's decided to grab, but he's wise enough to know that berries can be deceiving. ]

[ He straightens up - within the limits of his naturally hunched posture, that is - and returns the nod. ] Looking for something?
